Technical Q&A QTW69
Video Driver Conflict Causes Errors

Q When I attempt to play movies with QuickTime for Windows 2.0, I get an error, which indicates that QuickTime is conflicting with my video driver. I looked at my QTW.INI file, and found this:
    [QuickTime for Windows]
    Implementation=Full
    VHDW Component=None
    Video Hardware=Not directly supported
A The most likely cause for your problem is that your video card does not have one of the more common video chips (e.g., Cirrus, etc.) we support for direct video blitting. This forces QuickTime for Windows to switch over to video-driver support, and it's very important that the driver is a well-behaved one. If the driver is causing the problem, you may be able to resolve this by obtaining the very latest driver from the video card's manufacturer.
